Colin & Cilla
22nd February 2016
St Albans Registry Office & Sopwell House

I don’t even know where to start with this blog. I have been writing sentences and then just deleting them, I don’t even think I can put into words just how special this wedding was, but I’m gonna try damn hard.

In February I found this page on Facebook called Gift of a Wedding, they basically make weddings happen for terminally ill brides & grooms. C&C was one of them. I saw that they needed a Wedding Photographer for a Wedding in St Albans for a terminally ill bride. For anyone that knows me, knows that I am an extremely giving person & would rather give and see happiness in others than myself (mainly why I am a Wedding Photographer), so I applied straight away to offer my services. They came back to me the next day & said they would love for me to photograph C&C’s wedding. Preparations started & I was in contact with C&C to ensure that I captured their whole day, from the smallest detail to the biggest.

On the day of the wedding I arrived at the home around 10am to capture some getting ready & group shots. The bride looked radiant in her lace wedding dress. Once I was happy with the shots I had of  ‘getting ready’ I made my way to St Albans Registry office where the groom was waiting patiently for his bride and slightly nervous too! Who wouldn’t be with such a gorgeous bride? The groom looked rather handsome in his suit also! The nerves settled and guests started to arrive, we all took our places and waited for the bride to make her entrance. The ceremony was emotional, yet relaxed & almost had me in tears! After the ceremony I made my way to the reception at Sopwell House in St Albans, where we had some formal photographs and continued with the speeches & first dance. The speeches were made by the Maid of Honour, Best Man & of course the Groom. They were just like any other speech at a wedding, full of jokes & funny memories they’ve had with each other & also how C&C are just made for each other. We moved swiftly onto the cutting of the cake & afterwards they danced to Disclosure – Latch (remix). I did wonder how they were going to slow dance once the song came on, but they proved me wrong! I captured the rest of the evening in a candid manner, guests chatting, dancing, drinking & general having a good time!

I feel so honoured to have been able to offer my services & be apart of C&C’s special day, to also give them some memories that they will cherish for a life time. They are both such lovely people & they deserve all the happiness in the world & I wish them all the best.

Please feel free to scroll down & take a look at their day!

The wedding wouldn’t have been possible without all the other suppliers that also offered their services. Please see the list of suppliers at the bottom of the page
